General Tire

This privacy statement applies to all personal data that General Tire processes of everyone who has had contact with us, such as (website) visitors, customers and business contacts. Personal data is all data that can be traced back to an individual. For example, a name, (email) address or date of birth, but also an order history or browsing behaviour. We receive this information from you when you visit our website, create an account and fill in certain information or when you contact our customer service.

This privacy statement discusses the different ways in which General Tire collects data and the purposes for which data can be used. General Tire continues to develop and optimise its services. This privacy statement may be amended from time to time as a result. General Tire therefore advises you to read the privacy statement regularly so that you remain well informed.

Collected data and purposes of processing
If you order something from us, we will ask you for certain details. We need these, for example, in order to be able to implement the agreement. The law requires us to retain data related to your order for seven years.

If you follow General Tire through social media, or communicate with or about General Tire through social media, we process the following data so that we can optimise the content of our social media activities for our customers as much as possible:

  • The viewed and posted content and messages relating to General Tire

  • When you participate in a promotion or competition, additional information may be collected, which you will be informed of before you take part.

Information about General Tire services
Email newsletter
If you wish, you will periodically receive the General Tire newsletter by email. The newsletter contains information about General Tire products, services, promotions and possible activities and is tailored as much as possible to your interests and preferences as they are known to us.

If you receive the General Tire newsletter, we collect the following data:

  • Email address
  • Date of birth (optional)
  • Preferences
  • Time of opening the email
  • Clicking behaviour of email

We use this data for the following purposes: 3, 4, 5, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 13.

If you no longer wish to receive the newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time.

Customer satisfaction survey
If you participate in an General Tire customer satisfaction survey, we and our partners will process the following data so that the results of the survey can be used to improve the platform in the broadest sense of the word:

  • Email address
  • Reviews
  • Survey results
  • Name, address and place of residence (only at your request)

We use this data for the following purposes: 4, 5, 6.

In addition, we also use the reviews for publication, but of course only after you have given us your explicit approval.

Other
Finally, General Tire stores information (including the IP address you use) for the purpose of compiling usage statistics and for the security of the website. In doing so, we make use of the services of third parties.
In order to check whether you are able to meet your payment obligations, as well as to check any facts and factors that are important for the responsible conclusion and/or performance of the agreement (at a distance), General Tire may ask you to provide additional information, such as a copy of proof of identity. As part of this process, your Citizen Service Number (BSN) may be made illegible. The copy of your identity document will be destroyed as soon as the check has been carried out.

Transmission of data to third parties
Our website may use the services of third parties to process your data in accordance with this Privacy Statement. For example, service providers, partners and advisors who provide us with a service, cooperate with us in certain business activities, advise us or work with other business parties. These third parties act as processors for General Tire. General Tire ensures that these parties provide sufficient guarantees with regard to the technical and organisational security measures. Third parties acting as processors for General Tire have entered into a processor agreement with General Tire which includes that they will only process your data on behalf of General Tire.

Security
General Tire has taken appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against loss or improper processing. For example, a firewall and encryption measures are used to prevent access to data by unauthorised third parties. The user data is stored in locations that are both physically and technically secure. It also logs who has had access to the user data. Only a select group of employees have access to customer data based on their job profile. Those employees who have access to customer data are trained in advance and instructed on how to deal with this data, and they are subject to an obligation of confidentiality.

Transfer of business
In the future, one or more components or assets of General Tire may be transferred to a third party or General Tire may merge with a third party. In that case, your personal data may also be transferred to this third party. General Tire will inform you in such cases.

Third party websites Our website may contain hyperlinks to websites of third parties. General Tire has no control over the websites of third parties to which links are provided. It may therefore be the case that a different Privacy Statement applies to the use of these third-party websites. This Privacy Statement only relates to personal data obtained by General Tire. General Tire does not accept any responsibility or liability for (the operation and/or content of) third party websites.

Retention periods General Tire shall, in accordance with the law, retain personal data no longer than required in a form which permits the identification of the data subject, which is necessary to achieve the purposes for which it has been collected or for which it has been subsequently processed.    What rights can you exercise with regard to your data?

Right to information

You have the right to a comprehensible explanation of how we handle your personal data and what rights you can exercise in that respect. In this privacy statement we have therefore explained what information we collect from you and how we deal with it.

Right of access and correction If you would like to know what personal information we have about you or if you would like to change or delete information that you are unable to change via your General Tire account, please contact us via our customer service department.
If you disagree with the way in which we process your personal data, you can ask us for adjustments. This may be the case, for example, for the data we use for direct marketing. For example, you can ask us to no longer use your data for personalised recommendations on the website. This right also applies to other data we use about you. For example, you can choose that we forget and continue to forget the data about your browsing and search behaviour. Right to data portability

Right to be forgotten/request to delete account
If you wish, you can ask us to delete any of your personal data that we have. If you ask us to delete your account, we will delete the information that can be traced back to you. We will retain the data that we are required or permitted by law to retain. You can arrange this through our customer service.

Right to submit a complaint
If you do not agree with the way in which we handle your data, you can lodge a complaint with us. If you have a complaint, we prefer to resolve it with you. You can contact our customer service for this. But you also have the right to lodge a complaint with our complaints officer. You can do this by emailing info@generalbanden.nl. Finally, you can address your complaint to the Personal Data Authority.
